Wakeout is Slither.io on a summer lake. You start on a stand-up paddleboard with 19 other boats on the water, scoop up the rubber ducks, beach balls, pool noodles and coolers floating around, and grow: a jet ski at 30, a speedboat at 90, a yacht at 220. Bigger is faster and throws a bigger wake, but it turns like a sofa.

The wake is the only weapon. Every boat drops a real V of waves behind it. They spread out, fade, bounce off the shore, the islands and the docks, die inside the no-wake buoys, and add up where two of them cross. A wave that reaches you side-on tips you over a little; take it nose first and it only slows you down. Tip far enough and you capsize, your loot spills across the water for whoever's closest, and you paddle out again on a board. So a small boat that gets the angle right can sink a yacht, and a sunk yacht drops a jackpot. The first few big waves show a ghost arrow pointing the way to turn.

The lake has its own trouble. Big boats run aground on the sandbars and sit there wobbling. Sprint a motor boat through a no-wake zone and the dock yells at you. Every 80 seconds a car ferry sounds its horn and crosses the lake, and its long, slow wake rolls out across half the water and sinks anything that takes it side-on.

When you go over, the water behind the card replays the last couple of seconds in slow motion, so you see the wave that got you, and you can share a picture of it ("A paddleboarder sank a yacht!"). Nine badges earn paint jobs for your boat, and there's a new lake every day with a streak for coming back.

You can play the bots on your own, sail into a public lake with up to eight people, or open a private lake for friends with a link, with proximity voice if you want it. It works with a finger on a phone, a mouse, or a gamepad.

The idea is Jeff's. It took six rounds of playtesting to get here, including the ferry and a stronger wake. It's built with three.js. The boats, the rubber duck and the gulls are Meshy models, and the lake, the motors, the splashes and the "HEY! NO WAKE!" were generated with ElevenLabs. The promo above was filmed from real bot lakes, and yes, that paddleboard really did sink that yacht.
